Life Story for Ralph Nicholas Crispino

FALLSTON – Ralph Nicholas Crispino, 90, died at his home on April 25, 2018.
Beloved husband of the late Teresa Marie Crispino (nee Lopez) and loving partner of 25 years, Josephine (Jo) Libercci. He was a devoted father of Rick Crispino and his wife Mary Suilmann, and grandfather of Nicholas Crispino.
Ralph was born and raised in Clarksburg, West Virginia, the only child of Ralph and Florence Crispino. He has resided in the greater Baltimore area since 1949.
In his earlier years, he wanted to join the service during WW II but was too young. He joined the Navy just as the war was coming to an end. After his service in the Navy, he worked various jobs including clothing salesman, assembly line welder, chauffeur, and mechanic. His eventual career as a long-distance truck driver lasted for over 35 years. He worked for Quinn Freightlines on Pulaski Highway for 30 years until its closing.
He was the consummate handyman. He loved repairing everything rather than buying a replacement. Cars were his passion and hobby and he was a skilled auto mechanic. He was an early fan of NASCAR, attending Daytona races since the early 1960’s. He built a 1934 Ford Roadster and drove it in nearby drag racing events including at the track in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Later in life, he beautifully restored a 1957 Chevrolet Nomad.
As driving was his passion, he bought his first motor home in 1971 and owned and drove several up until he was 86 years old. He was a proud American, and enjoyed traveling through 49 states over the years, and after he retired, he and Jo spent four to five months each winter in Florida, living in the motor home. Ralph took his grandson on several trips around the country as well. He loved driving his motor home to places many would not attempt such as Pike’s Peak, Colorado and Washington Mountain in New Hampshire. He even drove it into downtown Manhattan.
Ralph had a passion for pets throughout his life, and raised several dogs and more recently, a feral cat that he and Jo picked up during one of their stays in Florida.
A longtime fan of football, a highlight for him was when he attended the 1957 Baltimore Colts championship game in New York with friends.
Ralph leaves behind his loving partner, Jo Libercci, his son, Rick Crispino, daughter-in-law, Mary Suilmann, and grandson Nicholas Crispino, as well as friends and neighbors that he loved to spend time with, sharing stories and telling tales.
